For Immediate Release
A message to the community from Norm Daley, Chair of the Kamloops Centre for the Arts Society:
On behalf of the Kamloops Centre for the Arts Society Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Mayor for requesting a postponement of the upcoming referendum and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for making this prudent choice.
In our collective interest of public safety, we believe that holding off on the referendum is in the best interest of everyone at this time.
To our 5,000+ members – thank you for supporting this project. We hope you will continue to demonstrate your support over the coming months and we look forward to seeing you at the polls when the referendum does take place.
To the 100+ businesses and organizations that have come out in support of this project, please know how appreciative we are and how much we are thinking of all of you in these challenging times. While many local businesses have had to close, others may be operating on reduced hours or services. I encourage our membership to support these local businesses, organizations and non-profits who are the heart of our community.
We are working closely with the City to determine next steps and we will continue to provide updates on our progress to the community through our website, social media and traditional media outlets.
In times of upheaval and change, we have an opportunity to reflect and define what our community will be in the future. This project is important for both our social and economic wellbeing—in Kamloops and throughout the region—and we look forward to continuing in our efforts to realize this Centre in the near future. I know that we will choose to make Kamloops a better place!
Thank you,
Norm Daley
Chair, Kamloops Centre for the Arts Society
